Diploma in Dental Hygiene
Valid registration with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a dental hygienist
Demonstrated experience in the delivery of periodontal care including the formulation of periodontal treatment plans
Demonstrated excellence in clinical care (scaling, polishing, fluoride treatment, application of antimicrobial agents, radiographs and impressions)
Demonstrated knowledge of the periodontal disease process and contributing factors
Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team
Ability to provide education to patients, colleagues, and other health care professionals
Demonstrated self-awareness (understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses)
Proficiency in French (preferred)
Experience in a geriatric setting (preferred)
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19, and influenza
Provide documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing
Commitment to engage in teaching and research activities related to the role
