Requirements

Diploma in Dental Hygiene from a recognized community college or university is required
Dental Hygiene Self-Initiation standing is preferred
Minimum 2 years experience in an active Dental practice is required
Current certification in BLS-HCP - Basic First Aid
Previous experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist in a Public Health Unit is preferred
Current registration (CDHO) to practice in Ontario as a Registered Dental Hygienist
Maintains professional competency under the Dental Hygiene Act and the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
Knowledge of the Ontario Public Health Standards
Proficiency with current computer applications (Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet, Outlook)
Ability to learn data management systems (i.e. OHISS: Dentrix Dental software)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
Excellent interpersonal, writing, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize workload
Fluency (oral and written) in French or other languages would be an asset
A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, access to a reliable motor vehicle during working hours, and 1 million dollars in liability insurance
Ability to lift 25 kilograms

Immunizations and TB screening as per WECHU policies
