Requirements
Membership with the Ordre des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec
College diploma from a dental hygiene program (1 to 2 years)
Experience in dental hygiene is an asset
Ability to conduct initial dental assessments
Skills to consult with dentists on patient care
Proficiency in taking dental impressions
Ability to instruct patients regarding oral hygiene
Skills to clean and stimulate gums to prevent gum disease
Ability to apply fluoride treatments
Proficiency in removing stains and deposits from teeth
Ability to take, develop, and mount X-rays
Skills to apply and remove temporary dressings
Ability to diagnose type and severity of diseases
Skills to remove sutures
Ability to perform restorative and orthodontic procedures under the direction of a dentist
