Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene
Current registration and licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the Province of British Columbia
Minimum one (1) year recent, related dental hygiene experience including experience in a community health organization or equivalent working with children, youth, and their families
Current valid BC driver's license and use of personal vehicle for business use
Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions
Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups
Knowledge of best practices and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, public, medical staff, and members of the interdisciplinary team
Ability to apply conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve and make decisions effectively
Ability to promote client-focused care demonstrating care for and with clients and significant others, sensitivity to diverse cultures
Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities
Ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in client care
Demonstrated computer skills including the use of electronic documentation systems and Windows-based programs
