Requirements
Dental Hygienists Licensure by the appropriate provincial or territorial governing body
1 to 2 years of clinical experience
Ability to conduct initial dental assessments
Skill in supervising dental assistants
Ability to take dental impressions
Knowledge of instructing patients on oral hygiene
Experience in cleaning and stimulating gums to prevent gum disease
Experience in applying fluoride treatments
Experience in removing stains and deposits from teeth
Ability to take, develop, and mount X-rays
Ability to diagnose type and severity of dental diseases
Skill in removing sutures
Eligible for professional liability insurance
College/CEGEP education
